Water-Based Ultrasonic Cleaning

Water-based ultrasonic cleaning uses alkaline, neutral or acidic detergents to remove oil, particles and oxides with controlled chemistry.

Overview

Where water-based works

Aqueous cleaning is the dominant industrial route.

Water-based (aqueous) cleaning uses water plus a purpose-formulated detergent, temperature and cavitation to remove contamination. It is versatile, lower in flammability than solvent and suited to a wide range of metals and soils, with chemistry selected for the material and contamination.

The ultrasonic cleaning solution is diluted to a recommended concentration and is normally followed by rinsing and drying. The approach is compared against solvent cleaning.

Process Considerations

Water-based decisions

Chemistry and material drive the line.

Recommended Route

A water-based route

The standard aqueous line.

  1. WashHeated ultrasonic wash with detergent
  2. FilterFilter particles and skim oil
  3. RinseRinse detergent from the parts
  4. DryDry with corrosion protection
  5. VerifyCheck cleanliness and residue
